About one year ago, I signed up for Global Entry. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made because not only did it expedite the process of going through customs but it also granted me TSA Pre✓™. Have you ever seen this sign when going through security?

This lane gives people access to a shorter line when going through security. You don’t have to take off your shoes, jacket, liquids or even take out your laptop. All you do is put your luggage on the conveyer belt and walk through the scanner. That’s the beauty of TSA Pre✓™!

Applying for TSA Pre✓™

1. You must first complete an online application.
2. After notification that your application was temporarily approved, you must schedule an interview at one of the 280 TSA Pre✓™ centers. You must bring two valid forms of identification (passport, drivers license, etc.)
3. After completing your interview, you must pay an $85 fee and get your fingerprints taken.
4. Within 7-10 business days you will receive your Known Traveler Number which can be used immediately.

Eligibility for TSA Pre✓™

If you have a record of any crimes identified in the criminal disqualifiers list, then you should not apply. No refunds will be given if you do.

How to use TSA Pre✓™

Only a certain number of airlines participate in TSA Pre✓™. They are Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.

When making an online reservation, enter your Known Traveler Number in the prompt.

You will see this on your ticket when you print out your boarding pass.

TSA Pre✓™ is currently available at 118 airports nationwide. Click here for the full list. Even if an airport has TSA Pre✓™, a specific gate might not have the lane. Check before leaving for the airport.
